Trim Bulldogs vs. Dublin Dragons- game 4
Boyne Community School, Trim
Trim Bulldogs found themselves in a battle with Dublin Dragons on Sunday. It was the second time these two sides had met this season. The Bulldogs had come out on top on the first occasion.
The Bulldogs won the toss and elected to attack from the start. A strong opening quarter from the offense saw them lead 6-0 after yet another touchdown from Running Back Pete McMahon. However it was the Bulldogs defence who deserve the credits on this occasion. They appeared to be on a mission to keep the score at 6-0 to the Bulldogs. Their relentless attack of the Dragons offense was a battle they won time and time again.
The Dragons defence kept the Bulldogs offense at bay, but the Bulldogs threats of scoring were ever present. Again the Bulldogs defence took to the field; maintaining their dominance over the Dragons offense. Only twice in the entire game did the Dragons make a 1st down, their first came as a result of a penalty. The second time they made the 10 yard mark the Bulldogs punished them with three successive sacks forcing them to punt from 16 yards behind the line of scrimmage.
While the Bulldogs high powered offense struggled to put more points on the board, the Bulldogs defence held on to secure their 1st shutout of the season.
Final score: Trim Bulldogs 6 – 0 Dublin Dragons.
Coach Drake of the Bulldogs was happy with the win. “
“Now we move on to the next game against the Craigavon Cowboys in Craigavon, Aug 5th. The Bulldogs have a lot of work in our short period of practice before we meet the Cowboys. I am confident that the team will be ready and focused. We must bring the Bulldogs game to Craigavon, staying relentless in our pursuit of a championship.”
