I recently found an online store selling Nike NFL jerseys for a reasonable price, NFL Merchandise UK claimed to have “[b]rand New 2012/13 Nike Jerseys Now Available for purchase directly for UK Customers”. So I contacted them and even asked about wholesale deals available, as they have a wide range of NFL jerseys, tees and caps amongst some other NFL equipment.

While there are a lot of fake jersey sellers on the internet, those jerseys usually retail about $20-40, NFL Merchandise UK was selling their Nike jerseys for £79.99 so I assumed they were real, especially aligned with the fact they sell a range of other NFL gear and use official Nike photography and size charts. I was happy enough to put in an order for a 49ers Willis jersey, knowing that if it did turn out to be fake I could, at least, warn others that may be considering buying a jersey.

On receiving my jersey three weeks later, it was obvious immediately it wasn’t a Nike Game jersey, which is the one I would have expected at the £80 cost. First off the numbers and name plate were stitched on as apposed to the screen printed on the Game jersey and the silicon printed numbers of the Elite. Also the NFL logo is very obviously misplaced on the neck.

The jersey also has an odd fit, I can’t confirm that it’s how the Elite jersey fits but it sits high on the shoulders and tight on the waist.

Having not heard back from the store operators in two days in response to my questions about the jersey, I can only assume receiving a  fake jersey was not a mistake.

While the jersey does look very good and, to those unfamiliar with the design of the Nike jerseys, looks very convincing, I do feel that NFL Merchandise UK sell the jerseys under the pretense of their authenticity. When you’re also paying the same price as the genuine article, there is an expectation that you wouldn’t receive a knock off from Asia.

So if you’re looking for a UK or European seller of authentic jerseys, the wait continues. But when I find one and verify it, you’ll hear about it on NFL-Ireland.com!

Check out the gallery of the jersey below.

UPDATE 2/8/2012: NFL Merchandise UK have contacted me to say they are currently in contact with their suppliers about the authenticity of their jerseys.

Good review! I was seriously thinking of buying one from that site! Had the jersey in the cart about 10 times and was hovering over the purchase button and am glad I didn’t now! Cheers for the heads up!!

I am have bought a jersey from NFL merchandise UK and had no problems with the way it looked or fit as i visit my family in the states once a year and this June i went over and looked in some stores over there. They sell some NIKE game jerseys with stitched numbers and some that are screen printed so i can only assume that that's the way it is?

I just recieved two eagles jerseys yesterday, one white and one green and yes I can confirm these are fake as the number font is different on both jerseys which both have a number 9 also the tpu sheild on the white jersey is really high up on all of the collar and neither jersey has the nike security tag inside the jersey and also the green stitching on the eagles logo on the arm is a completely different green than on the white jerseys logo. I am awaiting a reply and will get back to you’s. This will end up being refunded as they were custom jerseys at 89.99 for a babin and patterson jersey

Well i had a reply and they said these were not fakes. Doesnt explain why they are still stitched and fonts are different and no security tags inside the jerseys and the crap stitch job. They offered a refund or to replace them but the replacements wouldvbe fakes too so no point. Very disapointed with nfl merchandise.co.uk for the ure lack of quality and paying full price for knock offs. People can tell the difference between knock offs and even more so when they are crap knock offs. I recommend just buying from nfl.com or your favourite teams website, atleast then you’ll know that your getting official gear.

I made an order on 16th July 2012,
I ask for a refund when it doesn't come and that is half way into September, it is now nearly December i still have not had a refund

I ordered 2. Customised jersey’s from this website, had replies back from my emails asking where they were etc. But now there is no contact whatsoever. I’m worried that I’m not gonna get them now. I have demanded a refund for their lack of service and reading these reviews are making me sick how they can sell’fake’ jerseys and for them not to be in a genuine condition on the way they were made. I ordered the jerseys on 19th October, it is now 27th November! What a joke!

Ordered a Jersey from these "cowboys" back on 5th of October……… after several emails from the company assuring me that the Jersey was enroute from the US and was due in their next delivery I have finally given up……….. the order was placed 8 weeks ago! I will persue a refund through my credit card company………. I ordered a jersey directly from 49ers.com website and it arrived in just over a week!

Tamson, I've considered ordering from 49ers.com but was unsure about import duty/tax, was it very expensive? (after the $25 shipping)

Hi Becca, I ordered several items and total tax charge for import was £20……….. however the UK based handler also charged a fee which was an extra £8 so total cost was £28.

I'm from Boston, Massachusetts originally. I have been direct my friends and family to NFL merchandiseUK, as I didn't have any problems with my Pats Jersey.. and I also got it within a week. Same with my friends. Maybe with them being a relatively new company the had a few teething problems? I also sent a Pats Jersey to my Popp's back home in Boston. He agree's that they are 100% real!

I'm gutted. I ordered a 49ers shirt for my 14 year old son for Christmas and paid £39.99. I placed the order on the 27th November and it's now 27th Dec and I still don't have it. What a complete scam!

I'm waiting for Washington Redskins stuff that I couldn't get anywhere else. Order placed on 16 December showing as 'pending' on their website. No response to emails or answer phone. Am interested to know if this is a genuine company am so disappointed as these were christmas presents.

ordered a steelers t from there for £20, the site looks so legit, but now after reading many complaints about the sight i have realised its probably not going to turn up and if it does will be fake, found a better site now http://www.nflshop.com/home/index.jsp?&utm_co

Do not buy off that website. I purchased a T-shirt and it had a hole in it when I got it. I then returned the item and requested a refund. This was in September and I have yet to receive my refund. Also, they refused to reply to my emails. Awful customer service.

ordered a giants t shirt at start of december took a lot longer than i was told it would to arrive, asked to cancel order and asked for a refund, after numerous emails and left voicemails i am still waiting for it. all i got was on email saying order refunded. the customer service offered by this company is pathetic would warn anyone not to use them and now they will not not answer me at all.

Stay away from this company. I ordered a month ago and it never came, and I can't get through to them. Hopefully will get money back from Visa, but that's not the point!

I ordered a redskins jersey and a t shirt on December 11. Didn't expect it for Xmas. It hadn't come by the first week of January I contacted them by email saying I was frustrated. They replied saying they had my jersey but were waiting for the t shirt. A few days later my London Fletcher jersey arrived just waiting on the t shirt now. Impressed with the jersey it seem fine and the numbers are screen printed and not stitched.

recently had a 'replica' jersey from these cowboys – very bad quality – the players name (not the one asked for) hasn't played for the club for 4 years!!! how does that work?

I almost bought a jersey from these guys, asked them if they were genuine which i had assumed from the price tag, which they obviously replied yes too, However in the item description it says the product is manufactured in El Salvador, after a quick google search i found that all official Nike jerseys are in fact made in China, the few jerseys that JD sports sell, all say made in China on the pictures when you zoom, i would assume that they are not fake.I replied to their email with my findings and have received no response, it really is a pain getting a jersey of a player that isn't a quaterback.
