Each week during the season, deciding on who to start for your fantasy football team is the most pivotal decision. Each week in my Rankings, Starts and Sits article, I will list the players at each position. This will show you who the best play at each position is. I will also recommend a less obvious player at each position who is primed for a big week, and a player at each position who you should avoid. If you have any start/sit questions feel free to contact me on twitter @JamesMaguire21 where I would be happy to answer all questions.

QB Start of the Week

Colin Kaepernick (SF)

Kaepernick has been performing to a fairly high level over the past few weeks and has actually been better away from home. This weeks matchup is also favourable as he will need to throw often to keep up with Manning and the high powered Broncos offense. The Broncos give up almost 20ppg to opposing signal callers.

QB Sit of the Week

Matthew Stafford (DET)

Stafford is a player who I want to recommend caution with this week. He just isn’t as productive without Megatron and only has one game with over 20 points in his past 5 games. If you have a Quarterback with a better matchup it might be advisable to use them (for example one of the 13 QB’s I’ve ranked ahead of him this week) as he is a risky play without Megatron. Having said that the Saints defence has been allowing a lot of points to QB’s, so it Is possible he can still be productive. However, I would play it safe until Johnson returns.

Running Backs

RB Start of the Week

Andre Ellington (ARI)

Even though Ellington has been dealing with an injury all season he has still been fairly productive as a dual threat back. I feel that his true breakout game will come this week as he faces an Oakland defences that is awful against the run. I expect him to be a top 5 back this week, as the Raiders give up an average of over 150yards to RB’s at home this season.

 RB Sit of the Week

Frank Gore (SF)

Gore has been gradually losing more and more touches to Hyde as the season has progressed, and I see him as a risky start this week. Gore has been very bad away from home and if you factor in that the 49ers will probably have to throw the ball a lot in this game, it all adds up to a sub-par performance from Gore.

Wide Receivers

WR Start of the Week

Larry Fitzgerald (ARI)

Fitzgerald has been having a disappointing season so far, but with the return of Carson Palmer last week he finally posted a good stat line again. I would expect that trend to continue this week as they have a good matchup against the Raiders defence.

WR Sit of the Week

Wes Welker (DEN)

Welker has been awful this season and inly caught one pass in last weeks game. He isn’t being targeted by Manning and while it’s possible that he will eventually have a rebound game, it is just impossible to trust him in your lineup when there is the potential for a zero.

Tight Ends

TE Start of the Week

Jordan Cameron (CLE)

Cameron finally had a good game last week and showed what his owners expected of him when they drafted him I would expect his success to continue this week as he has a fantastic matchup against a Jaguars team that is very weak at defending TE’s. In fact the Jags defence gives up the 4th most fantasy points to the position.

TE Sit of the Week

Heath Miller (PIT)

Miller has been very poor so far this season and only has one game with more than 6 targets as the Steelers seem to be ignoring him in the passing game. I don’t see his stats improving anytime soon and his matchup this week is a poor one as he faces a Texans defence that has only allowed 2 TD’s to the position so far this season.
